General Cigar announces today that the company has modernized the design of its iconic Macanudo logo for the U.S. market. Beginning on January 15, 2016, Macanudo Café, Macanudo Maduro, Macanudo Crü Royale and Macanudo 1968 and will feature the brand’s new look.

“The Macanudo logo has evolved to a more contemporary design, and packaging has been updated for visual consistency throughout the portfolio. The changes will make Macanudo even more appealing on shelf and more relevant to current and new cigar smokers,” said Alan Willner, vice president of marketing for General Cigar.

While the color schemes remain unchanged, the new logo is stronger, more confident and features the Macanudo word mark more prominently beneath the logo.”

Macanudo Crü Royale will now be presented in a wrap set box to match the packaging of the other cigars in line, while Macanudo 1968 will move from a cabinet-style to shell top box. Additionally, the bands for Macanudo Café will be updated with a shiny metallic gold foil, while Macanudo Crü Royale bands will feature silver foil.

The redesign marks the first change to the logo and packaging since the company began selling Macanudo nearly 50 years ago.

“While the look has progressed, the blends have not changed,” noted Willner.

Launched in 1968, Macanudo Café is General Cigar’s top-selling premium cigar brand and is available worldwide. The brand is best known for its mild flavor and silky Connecticut Shade wrapper.

One-of-a kind venue set to open its doors early 2016 in the epicenter of Miami’s Downtown Brickell area. 

Brickell-Miami is ready to welcome Casa De Montecristo by Prime Cigar & Whiskey Bar, a sanctuary where “sophisticated relaxation” isn’t just their motto, but a way of life. 262 TO RELEASE SUIT & TIE IN DECEMBER 2015

unnamed262 Cigars will celebrate its fifth anniversary in style. The company is slated to release its sixth blend this December 2015 called Suit & Tie. Suit & Tie will be become the company’s second short run release and will commemorate 262 Cigars’ five years in the cigar industry.

The story of the Suit & Tie happened when 262 Cigars founder Clint Aaron was on a factory trip working on some future cigars and fell in love with a blend. Not knowing what to do with the blend, he decided to shelve it.

“I was at the factory and this particular blend grabbed a hold of me. I wanted to wait until the timing was right, so we put it on the back burner,” Aaron said. He went on to say, “I was on a road trip, and all of the sudden it hit me like a ton of bricks. That blend would be perfect for a short-run to coincide with our 5 years of being in the industry.”

When it came to naming the song, Aaron drew his inspiration from a pop song. “I was driving down the highway, smoking that blend, the windows were rolled down, and Suit & Tie by Justin Timberlake came on the radio. At that moment I knew that the cigar was destined to be put into production. I called Mike, Jerry, and Kyle and told them my hair-brained idea. They were on board and jumped right in; this has been a fun cigar to create. It had to be offered in my two favorite sizes, Box Press Toro and Lancero. It just made sense to call the cigar Suit & Tie; we really wanted to have some fun with this release.”

Suit & Tie will be available in ten count boxes for in both a Box Press Toro and a Lancero.

Suit & Tie will be available to select stores nationwide. This list will be released at a later date, but each store will receive 10 boxes of each size.

Suit & Tie is 262’s first short-run production in almost four years. Back in February 2012, the company’s other short run cigar, the 262 Manifesto was released.
