Smokers Den hosts new ladies cigar networking group
James Suckling’s Top 10 Cigars of 2012
International cigar expert James Suckling just released his list of Top 10 Cigars in 2012 on his website, JamesSuckling.com. All the top-rated smokes are Cuban. Suckling believes the quality of Cuban cigars is excellent at the moment. There’s even a perfect, 100-point smoke.
“The big surprise for me was the superb quality of two of last year’s Edición Limitadas,” writes Suckling. “Cubans finally got their blends right with the dark, more mature wrappers of the limitadas.”
The Top 10 list can be viewed here, though a subscription is required to read the tasting notes: http://www.jamessuckling.com/
His writing and ratings on cigars are available at JamesSuckling.com and in Cigar Journal magazine.
Last year, Suckling released a documentary film on Cuban cigars, entitled “Cigars: The Heart and Soul of Cuba” (www.heartandsoulofcuba.com), which chronicles the entire process of creating the cigars, from leaf to smoke. It was selected for three international film festivals including Havana, Bogota, and Sonoma.
Darafeev introduces the Cigar Chair
Darafeev Resort Furniture has introduced the “Cigar Chair”. I first heard of this product a few months ago in one of the cigar related groups on linkedin.com and it intrigued me.
The photo above is the newest ad copy for the product. I also found a photo gallery for the Cigar Chair that shows many more angles and fabric styles.
The chair looks very luxurious and puts just about anything a cigar smoker would want within their arms reach. On one arm of the chair, there is a spot for a wine glass or a bottle of spirits. At the end of this arm, a slide out section reveals a glass holder. The other arm has a built-in Spanish Cedar lined humidor, complete with hygrometer and passive humidification. On the front of this arm, there is a pull out section with a built-in ash tray. The ash tray is easily removed for cleaning.
I do not know how much a chair like this would cost but I am sure it is worth a pretty penny. Darafeev’s Resort Furniture website shows similar quality furniture and provides a list of “celebrity” clientele. That list may be an indication of how much the furniture costs.

Angelo Dundee celebrates 90th birthday with a box of cigars from Toraño Family Cigar Co
Hall of Fame boxing trainer Angelo Dundee celebrates 90 years of age with a reunion with a piece of his glorious past and a gift from the Toraño Family Cigar Co. The legendary Dundee who trained 12 world boxing champions (most famously Muhammad Ali and Sugar Ray Leonard) had the chance to slow down for one of the few times in his 90 years to reminisce about days past as he was presented with mounted brick from the original 5thStreet Gym which was torn down in 1994.
