La Aurora to donate 11 cents for every picture received via social media in support of the fight against diabetes

La Aurora celebrates 111th Anniversary with their “Become part of the family” campaign. All the money will be donated to the “Patronato de Lucha contra la Diabetes de Santiago de los Caballero.”

La Aurora turns 111 years old today and wants to celebrate with all the smokers in the world, inviting them to toast with Guillermo and Michelle León in celebration of such a special date. That being a reason to celebrate is also a reason to “give back.”  The company has announced a target to collect funds for one of the social programs supported by La Aurora. For every picture received by the brand’s social media, 11 cents will be donated to the Patronato de Lucha contra la Diabetes de Santiago de los Caballeros, a local institution that fights against diabetes disease. La Aurora will also use all the pictures received to adorn their tabaquería, in the factory, in an effort to make everyone feel part of La Aurora Family. The campaign “Become part of the family” invites everyone to have their own picture hung in La Aurora’s facilities and we want to fill it all!

La Aurora is a family and we want to invite all our friends from all around the world to join our family on this very special day in which we accomplish 111 years of history,” said Guillermo León, president of La Aurora. “We want to share the joy of this celebration with all our employees, our International distributors, the tobacco shops and with all smokers and friends, with a double challenge. We aim to fill the factory walls with the pictures of so many friends and make a generous contribution to the research of such a cruel disease as diabetes.”

Known as the “Epidemic of the century”, this disease has no cure and its treatment costs are very high. The Patronato de Lucha Contra la Diabetes de Santiago is a NGO created to help and service people affected by diabetes with poor economic resources in Cibao Region.

Roberto P. Duran Premium Cigars announces new National Sales Manager

Duran Premium Cigars is no different.  The company has now added Miguel Schoedel (previously at Toraño Family Cigar Company) as their National Sales Manager. Duran is also announcing the hiring of another former Toraño territory manager, Frank Cuden.

These new talent acquisitions are seemingly only the beginning of what’s to be a major growth spurt for Roberto P. Duran Premium Cigars. After the unveiling of the super-premium Roberto P. Duran Cigar, Neya, and Baracoa cigar brands at the 2014 IPCPR, Roberto feels it is now time to add a little muscle to the sales force to coincide with the companies continued expansion.

Miguel Schoedel was a stand-out component within the sales team at CAO. He spent the last four years with Toraño Family Cigar Company, where he was promoted to National Sales Manager.

Antillian Cigar to distribute four cigar brands

Antillian Cigar Corporation, owner of the popular cigar brands Sosa, Underground and 60 by Sosa, is happy to announce that it will be the exclusive U.S. distributor for The Cigar Cork, Arandoza Cigars, Headlines Cigars and Doña Nieves Cigars.

Drew Estate unveils “Tienda Exclusiva by Willy Herrera” for Barrister Cigars

HerreraDrew Estate Tobacco Co. announced today the release of the first “Tienda Exclusiva by Willy Herrera”, a concept cigar by Willy Herrera. Made at La Gran Fabrica Drew Estate in extremely small batches, the Tienda Exclusiva line is specially crafted for one retailer per release, with only a few releases scheduled per year. The inaugural “Tienda Exclusiva by Willy Herrera” blend was produced for the owner of Barrister Cigars in Union, New Jersey, David Mallow, following the 2013 New Jersey Cigar Festival.

When asked about the blend, Willy Herrera responded from Estelí, Nicaragua: “This was one of the blends that I was working on through 2012 and 2013. David smoked it at the Festival and kept coming back for more. Eventually, he smoked every cigar I had brought, which I thought would be enough for the entire week! I knew he loved the blend and it felt right assigning it to him for my first Tienda Exclusiva.”

David Mallow, owner of Barrister Cigars, said that, “the ‘Tienda Exclusiva by Willy Herrera’ is a truly beautiful project that I am honored to be involved with. It’s no secret that Willy is one of the most talented tobacco blenders out there, and we can’twait to have the cigar in our humidor.”

Miami Cigar & Company and La Aurora announce exclusive retail cigar

Miami Cigar & Company and La Aurora are pleased to announce their collaboration with Michael’s Tobacco and the release of the LA Aurora Diamond Preferido in a 6×58 double Figurado.

michaelsAfter much anticipation, this release will be limited to 100 boxes exclusively distributed to both the Euless and Keller locations in Texas.  Along with the usual La Aurora band, this vitola will also sport a secondary band reading “Michael’s” across the front.

The Michael’s Tobacco exclusive came to be when Miami Cigar & Company representative, Justin Sandlin held an event displaying La Aurora when approached by Michael’s tobacco owner, Michael Peacock. Michael being a huge fan of La Aurora expressed his passion for the blend. To Michael’s surprise, his conversation reached the Dominican Republic and he was invited to Santiago, D.R.  After getting in the trenches with the crew at La Aurora and learning the ins and outs of premium cigar making, Michael was handed one of La Aurora’s prized Preferidos.

During his stay, the idea was brought up to make a special retailer exclusive for Michael’s Tobacco, and thus the La Aurora Diamond Preferido in a 6×58 double Figurado was born. Great White cigar attacks humidors

United Cigar Retailers, known for creative packaging and ideas is set to release the brand new Great White which will begin selling the week of August 10th. The Great White features a Brazillian Mata Fina wrapper, over binder and fillers from Nicaragua.

According to United Cigar Retailers, “Each year, Shark Week dominates the cable tv ratings and we began to think, how great would it be to have a cigar that captures the excitement of this annual phenomenon. We opted for a Brazilian wrapper because of all the shark attacks in this region of the world. The blend captures the strength of the Great White, and it is capped off by a band that represents the fin”

The Belicoso cigars measuring 5.25 x 52 come in trays of 10, and have an MSRP of $8.00 per stick. They are made at an undisclosed factory in Nicaragua.
