Gran Habano Cigars announces the official release of its long-awaited latest edition of a very popular cigar to join the S.T.K. lines manufactured in Miami at G.R. Tabacaleras Co.

The new Mas Paz Edition of the Zulu Zulu is being made in our own factory in Little Havana, operated by George Rico. George is collaborating with the artist, “Mas Paz”, to design the new packaging for this project, with a percentage of the sales of this new project going towards a non-profit organization that will fund renovations for La Casa de la Madre y el Niño, an orphanage in Bogotá, Colombia.

Federico Frum, the Colombian-born street artist that goes by the name, “Mas Paz”, was himself adopted from La Casa de la Madre y el Niño when he was only a year old. He grew up in Arlington, Virginia and received his formal training in art at George Mason University. After designing for several large companies in New York City, he decided to embark on a six-month journey throughout South America that forever changed his path. Frum now travels the world using his art to inspire and transform neighborhoods in the U.S. and developing world. He is a strong advocate for youth, working with kids in local schools and community centers to teach art and raise funds to promote art education. MoyaRuiz announces The Rake

MoyaRuiz Cigars Inc. announce the release of The Rake, a new line of cigars from the makers of the La Jugada cigar brand.

With an intended launch of spring 2015, The Rake will be made at Erik Espinosa’s La Zona factory in Esteli, Nicaragua. The cigars will be presented in classic cabinet-style boxes of 20 and available in 4 different vitolas, Fix (5-5/8×46), Cut (5×52), Take (6×52), and Vig (6×60). Two of the sizes will be slightly box pressed, Cut and Fix.

Danny Moya, co-founder of MoyaRuiz Cigars explained the concept behind The Rake: “The Rake is a poker term which describes the fee taken by the card room for operating the poker game. You gotta pay to play!” said Moya, “and in the cigar business’, this As with MoyaRuiz Cigars’ first cigar line, La Jugada, The Rake pays homage to the company’s love of “the game”, and where La Jugada drew from the theme of dominos, The Rake stems from a love of poker. With The Rake, brand owners Danny Moya and Nelson Ruiz plan to give the cigars a different feel from the their previous releases. “Our La Jugada brand had more of a traditional/Cubanesque look, but as for The Rake, we wanted to give it a modern touch. The design of the band is inspired by the speakeasy peep hole found in many doors at underground gambling rooms and the cigar box has two slots on the top of the box to resemble a rake box” said Moya.

MoyaRuiz is describing The Rake as a med-full bodied, full flavored cigar – incorporating a powerhouse blend of four ligero leaves. Two from Jalapa which are sweeter and two from Esteli known for their strength. The wrapper will be Connecticut Broadleaf. Even though The Rake will feature four ligeros it’s very balanced because of the other leaves in the binder and filler. Truly showcasing the quality blending coming out of the La Zona factory. “We want to keep pushing the envelope, with full and complex flavors,” said Moya.

Maya Selva Cigars celebrates “20 Años”

Maya Selva Cigars, producer of Flor de Selva, Cumpay, and Villa Zamorano, is pleased to announce that 2015 is our 20th anniversary in the premium cigar industry.  “20 Años” will be the theme this year for Maya Selva Cigars.

On March 8th, we had the honor of hosting a multitude of guests from around the world–including customers, friends, and industry media professionals–to launch our celebration in the form of a “Harvest Party” at our farm, Santa Eulalia, in Danlí, Honduras.

As a part of our “20 Años” celebration, we will be releasing various new cigars to our portfolio, including a limited-edition “20 Años” Lancero to our Flor de Selva brand, as well as a permanent edition of a Toro (6 x 52) to both our Connecticut and Maduro lines.   In conjunction to these new releases, we will also be inaugurating a company-wide evolution of our branding, across our three brands: Flor de Selva, Cumpay, and Villa Zamorano.  Release dates for new cigars will be at this year’s IPCPR in New Orleans, Louisiana, in July of 2015.

To close our celebration and prepare for the IPCPR, we will be throwing a grand bash in Paris, France–home of our corporate offices–on Tuesday, June 23rd, 2015.

For Drier, Cooler Pipe Smoking, Arango Cigar Co. Now Offers Erik Nording’s New Eriksen Keystone Filter Pipe

Eriksen Keystone Filter PipeArango Cigar Co. showed Erik Nording’s new Eriksen Keystone Filter Pipe at this year’s IPCPR tobacco trade show, to a strong positive response.  Entry-level pipe smokers are attracted to the $30 per pipe suggested retail pricing.  More seasoned smokers also favor Nording’s unique pipe smoking concept.

Danish master pipe carver Nording has designed the starter pipe to provide drier, cooler smoking.  The Eriksen Filter Pipe combines a removable briar bowl, which holds the highly absorbent, volcanic clay granules (keystones) in a chamber beneath the bowl.  The chamber’s base is configured as a spiral channel, which directs the smoke through the granules and into the stem.  The keystones are available separately, so they can also be used effectively in any pipe, simply by sprinkling them into the bottom of the bowl before adding tobacco.

A small tin of keystones accompanies each Eriksen Filter Pipe, and additional granules are available in 100-gram bags, at $12 MSRP.  When using the keystones in the Eriksen Filter Pipe or others, the last bit of tobacco can still be enjoyed, because they keep the tobacco dry until it is all smoked, making this a very economical pipe.

The Eriksen Filter Pipe is available in a choice of four bowls:  black, black grain, natural or natural rusticated.  The pipe’s base, shank and mouthpiece are made of durable molded plastic.

Shon Brooks got his start in television writing, producing, and hosting career as a teenager right out of high school. Gary Griffith of Emilio Cigars announced today yet another addition to the ever-growing portfolio of cigars available through the House of Emilio.
Mia Dora is produced by AJ Fernandez in Esteli, Nicaragua and features an Habano wrapper and Nicaraguan filler and binder.
The Robusto and Toro are available in 21 count boxes, and the Coronita comes in a 40 count box.  The boxes are embossed in gold, while the cigar bands feature a theme dedicated to the town of Ascoli Piceno in Italy, birthplace of the ancestors of the love of Griffith’s life, Dora.

Viva Republica announces limited-edition fundraising cigar

Viva Republica, a premium handmade cigar manufacturer, and Operation: Cigars for Warriors, a nonprofit dedicated to serving U.S. military members serving  in combat zones, are pleased to announce a Veteran’s Day limited-edition release cigar that will be sold to benefit the charity.

The cigar will retail for $6, with all proceeds from the wholesale of the cigar to authorized retailers going directly to Operation: Cigars for Warriors. The limited edition run of 2,000 cigars is the first of its kind for Viva Republica and will ship to stores next week onVeteran’s Day, November 10th, 2014.

“For Veteran’s Day this year I wanted to do something for an organization that I truly believe in,” said Jason Holly, owner of Viva Republica. “The volunteers of Operation: Cigars for Warriors work tirelessly to get cigars to the men and women fighting for our country.”

Not only will this special run be a first for Viva Republica, it will be a first for Operation: Cigars for Warriors as well.  The proceeds from the sales of the cigars are expected to be the largest single cash donation in the nonprofit’s history.

“The support of Viva Republica could not have come at a better time,” said Storm Boen, Chairmen of the Board for Operation: Cigars for Warriors.  “Every month we have more requests from active duty troops than our all-volunteer organization can fill and the donation from the sale of Viva’s cigars will be used to defray our shipping costs when sending cigars to troops overseas.”

The cigar will measure 5 1/8 ” x 42” and is a medium-plus smoke. It was designed to be a smoke that is bold and flavorful.

“This release features a prototype Nicaraguan wrapper I have been working with,” said Holly.  “In terms of the blend, it’s a bit different style than the regular production portfolio.”

JM’s Nicaraguan Is latest value-priced 100% Tobacco, Handmade Premium Cigar from JM Tobacco

JM´s NicaragauanJM Tobacco, Inc., pioneers in value-priced premium cigars, just debuted their latest premium cigar, JM’s Nicaraguan.  The hand-made Cuban sandwich construction consists of 100% choice tobaccos.
