The Savinelli Liga Especial is available in four sizes and packaged 20 cigars to a box. The sizes are as follows:
Robusto – 5 x 50
Corona Gorda – 5.5 x 52
Torpedo – 6 x 52
Double Corona – 6.5 x 54
I smoked the Robusto vitola for this review. The wrapper is an Ecuadorian Habano 2000 leaf while the binder and filler are comprised of Nicaraguan tobacco.
The cigar’s appearance was medium brown and smooth with a few minor veins. The cigar was firm to the touch with only a slight sponginess at the foot.
There was a strong tobacco aroma from the wrapper with a slight “barnyard” odor at the foot.
Once clipped, the cigar had an easy draw and I could detect some coffee and tobacco flavors on the pre-light draw.
After I lit the cigar and had a few puffs, I could taste more of that coffee and tobacco. It was very smooth with some spice on the exhale. The cigar also produced a good amount of smoke that was very enjoyable.
The spice built up strength as the cigar progressed but the coffee / tobacco combination remained fairly consistent throughout.
The ash was firm and lasted about 2 inches before dropping.
Overall, the Savinelli Liga Especial was a medium bodied, medium strength cigar that was full of great flavor. It good construction and was very enjoyable. I would recommend this cigar and certainly smoke it again.
Tom,
Great review…it was interesting learning some of the words associated with a cigar and I am sure your experience will boost sales too.
Have a great week!
