I’m kicking off this drink series with a potent little cocktail called the Fogg Cutter. There have been several iterations of this drink from the 1940’s to the 1970’s. I’m using the original 1940’s recipe because I’m a sucker for older, classic cocktails.
This recipe comes from Trader Vic and was created in the World War II era.
Fogg Cutter
- 2 oz. fresh lemon juice ( I get mine from my tree)
- 1 oz. orange juice
- 1/2 oz. orgeat syrup (make your own, it’s easy and so simple)
- 2 oz. light rum
- 1 oz. brandy
- 1/2 oz. dry gin
Shake with ice and pour into a Fog Cutter mug. Add more ice to fill mug if necessary.
Float 1/2 oz. cream sherry on top
I’m using plastic mugs because I moved the bar out by the pool and I know at some point I would drop a mug!
Have you had a Fog Cutter before or did you make one from this recipe? Let me know in the comments!
