Specifics
As the name states, this is a Nicaraguan puro. I received samples of the Diesel Esteli Puro robusto from the manufacturer for review purposes.
The Experience
Appearance
The wrapper has a Colorado shade with some minor veins and visible seams. The double cap is smoothly applied and the finished foot has a smoky, barnyard aroma. The wrapper smells of cedar which is no surprise since it is wrapped in a thin cedar veneer.
Pre-light
The cigar is very firm to the touch and has an average weight for its size. I gave it a straight cut and the pre-light draw was firm. There was a faint tobacco flavor from the draw.
1st Third
The cigar starts off with a medium-strong retrohale and straight up tobacco notes with a mild finish on my palate.
2nd Third
The retrohale is strong and lingering. The main tobacco flavor becomes deeper and has a long, lingering finish.
Final Third
The last third of this cigar is exactly the same as the second third.
Combustion
The cigar burned evenly the entire session and had a thin carbon ring behind the ash. The ash was white, firm and tight. The ash lasted for about an inch and a half before I dropped it. The cigar produced a good amount of smoke.
[su_box title=”Summary” style=”soft” box_color=”#e1dddd”]
This is a full bodied, full strength cigar. It’s relatively static in its flavor profile with minor changes throughout. I felt it was an OK smoking experience.
Overall, I give the Dielsel Esteli Puro a grade of 86.6 [/su_box]
