Drew Estate ACID Blue Blondie – cigar review

Cigar Review
ACID BLONDIE

Drew Estate’s ACID Blue is the “flagship” line of ACID which was first produced back in 1999.  The cigar is on the smallish side at 4″ by 38 ring gauge and are sold in boxes of 40.

The blend is comprised of a Connecticut Shade wrapper and a binder and fillers from Nicaragua.

Appearance
The CT. Shade wrapper was light tan in color and had a few small veins. The cigar itself was soft to the touch like it was a bit underfilled. The foot of the cigar (actually, the entire cigar) had a very pungent patchoullie aroma while the cap was sugary sweet.

Performance
The Blondie had an easy draw and produced a good amount of smoke. It burned evenly with a thin carbon ring. Technically, this is a very well made cigar.

Experience
The Blondie started off with a blast of pepper in the retrohale and pronounced patchoullie notes on the finish. The candy like sweetness from the cap tends to balance the rest of the cigar well.
This flavor profile continues for just about two-thirds of the cigar. Towards the end, the candy sweetness disapates and I pick up on earthy tobacco with a hint of bitterness on the long finish.

Summary
The ACID line of cigars are absolutely unique. They are not for everyone but, I do enjoy them occasionally. There are many different blends in the ACID line, with varying degrees of infusion / flavor. Perhaps one of those blends will become a favorite of yours.
