Subscription boxes. You’ve seen the ads all over the internet, you may even subscribe to a few. I know my daughters are big fans. One day, after retrieving another delivery from my doorstep, I thought I should do this for myself. I’ve known about cigar subscription services but, a Facebook post from Sam Leccia came back to mind from the previous month.
In February of this year, Sam started Stogiebird, a subscription service that delivers cigars curated by Sam himself.
Over the years I’ve had the pleasure of meeting Sam at various events for the excellent cigars he had developed. Sam knows his stuff when it comes to tobacco so signing up with Stogiebird was a no-brainer for me.
Stogiebird has a variety of cigar quantities and delivery options. You can order two to eight cigars or a Manufacturer of the month sampler and have them delivered between once a week to once a year. Prices range from $20 to $70 depending on the package.
I started my subscription in March with the two cigars a month option. Shortly after my online order, the cigars arrived. I received a Sobremesa and a La Careme Canonazo. I was familiar with the Sobremesa but had never heard about the La Careme.
The next month I received an Island Jim and a Murcielago. Two cigars I was familiar with.
That’s one of the great things I like about Stogiebird, you’ll get a variety of cigars, some you may never have heard about but Sam feels they are worthy of his customers. I’ll gladly smoke a cigar that Sam is basically saying “Here, try this!”
After my second delivery I was thinking to myself “wow, two cigars run out quickly!” I also read in the Stogiebird Facebook page about some of the cigars scheduled for May. Not wanting to miss out on any of those, I upgraded to the eight cigars per month option.
I was not disappointed. Besides the regular cigar related tchotchkes that arrive each month, I received the following:

This is an amazing selection that I have just started to smoke through. I’m looking forward to smoking and reviewing each and every cigar I have received from Stogiebird.
