Graycliff G2

Graycliff G2 Turbo Edición Limitada 2010 cigar review

Cigar Review

Earlier this month, my daughter surprised me with a cigar. It was given to her by one of her dog walking clients to give to me.

The cigar was a Graycliff G2 Turbo Edición Limitada 2010.  I have never had one before so, I was looking forward to smoking it.

Specifics

The cigar I was gifted seems like a Robusto coming in at 5 ¼ x 50. Although I could not find any info on a robusto vitola for this particular cigar. I even measured twice before I cut (see what I did there?)

It has an Ecuadoran Habano wrapper and a filler blend of Honduran and Nicaraguan tobaccos. The binder leaf is unknown.

The Experience

Appearance

The wrapper is a solid Colorado hue on the chart. It has some minor veins and a few visible seams. I noticed a faint leather aroma coming from the wrapper.

The double cap is smoothly applied and the finished foot has a strong barnyard scent.

The main band has a black background with a gold frame and the name G2 Turbo in gold and white.

Below the main band is a thin rectangular band with the words Edición Limitada in gold.

Pre-light

I used a straight cut on this cigar. The pre-light had a good draw with a slight grassy flavor.

1st Third

The retrohale at the start of this cigar is on the mild side. It builds up to a medium sensation within an inch of smoking the cigar. On the palate, there is a slight bitterness / sour flavor that turns savory at the end. The flavor is strongest in the middle of my tongue and is then the savory is followed up by tobacco.

2nd Third

Flavors during the middle of this cigar are rich and smooth tobacco. The smoke coats my tongue and leaves a medium finish. The retrohale is still around medium, just like the first but then increases as I move along.

Final Third

As I finish the G2, I pick up on strong, earthy tobacco notes and a tingling sensation on my tongue. The finish is long and satisfying. The retrohale also increases and lingers for a good amount of time.

Combustion

The burn on this cigar was very even, with a thin carbon ring and a firm, tight, gray ash. The cigar produced a good amount of enjoyable smoke.

[su_box title=”Summary” style=”glass” box_color=”#e1dddd”]Overall, I really enjoyed this cigar. This was a very good smoking experience and I would pick this cigar up the next time I saw them. I would classify this cigar as medium-strong in strength and medium in body.

In summary, I rate the Graycliff G2 Turbo Edición Limitada 2010 at a 91.6[/su_box]
