Veiled Prophet

Veiled Prophet cigar review

Cigar Review

Hiram and Solomon’s Veiled Prophet is the subject of this week’s review. It’s the second cigar from the brand that I have tried for the first time. This cigar came from a recent purchase I made at one of my local brick and mortar shops.

The Veiled Prophet comes in three sizes: MONARCH  (6 x 54), LANCERO (7 x 38) and GRAND MONARCH (7 x 60).

I smoked the lancero for this review.

Specifics

The cigar’s blend is comprised of a Brazilian Arapiraca wrapper over an Indonesian binder with a combination of Habano Estelí, Paraguay, Ligero Habano Jalapa filler leaves.

The Experience

Appearance

The wrapper has a Colorado Maduro shade to it. There are a few veins and barely visible seams. The double cap is smooth in appearance. The wrapper gives off a slight leathery tobacco aroma. The finished foot has an earthy scent with faint notes of cocoa.

Pre-light

I used a straight cut on the cap and gave the cigar a cold draw. While the pull was excellent, I was a bit surprised that I could not pick up on any flavors.

1st Third

Right away I felt a strong sensation during the retrohale while the overall flavor on my palate had a slight bitterness with some pepper on the finish.

2nd Third

The retrohale was very similar to the first third while the flavor changed to strong tobacco.

Final Third

The final third again had a consistently strong sensation on the retrohale. The flavor profile changed once more and I found a rich, smooth tobacco with hints of coffee.

Combustion

The cigar burned evenly and had a thin carbon ring behind the firm, gray ash. The cigar produced an excellent amount of smoke.

[su_box title=”Summary” style=”soft” box_color=”#e1dddd”]I feel this cigar falls into the medium strength, full bodied category and was a pleasure to smoke.

Overall, I rate the Hiram and Solomon Veiled Prophet at a 92.[/su_box]
